We had to say goodbye to Erney October 10, 2018. We were fortunate to meet this larger than life character through Animalert in late 2016.
Erney was part of a large rescue of Newfoundlanders, had been in a kennel most of his life and suffered from some medical issues. Our goal was to provide a better life for him than where he had come from for as long as we could.
Erney was always the centre of attention wherever he went. Children who were intimidated by his size at first, were hugging him shortly thereafter. He loved to go for walks, loved to meet people and people loved to meet him. He went on many adventures to places like the dog beach, Pawlooza, hikes and other dog related events. He was a kind and gentle soul, who still had a mischievous element to him.
Sadly, his adventures ended too soon, as Erney succumbed to bone cancer in mid-October of 2018. A huge hole has been left in our lives, but we wouldn't change a minute of our time together.
We only wish it had been longer. It was a privilege to have known him and we thank Animalert for allowing him to be part of our family.
