**Luna Lemon**
We first met Luna when she was being fostered by friends who had lovingly named her "Pearl." It was heartbreaking to see such a beautiful little dog who had spent her early life in a puppy mill, filled with fear and uncertainty. From the moment we met her, we fell in love and knew we had to give her a forever home. We renamed her "Luna Lemon," a name that not only brought a smile to our faces but also felt fitting for our quirky little family.
Luna brought immense joy into our lives. She adored toys, though they rarely survived her enthusiastic chewing. She once discovered that she could move a chair by standing on her hind legs—a moment that filled our home with laughter. When we fostered a tiny Chihuahua named Sky, Luna's playful spirit truly blossomed. Seeing them chase each other around the house was a heartwarming sight that reminded us how far she had come.
Over time, we were able to nurture Luna back to health, and she developed a real taste for good food—especially chicken! Her determination to get what she wanted was both funny and endearing, as she would whine and bark at chicken bones like they were just out of reach.
Luna formed a deep bond with me, and her excited greetings when I came home were always a highlight of my day. It didn't matter if I had been gone for just a few minutes or several hours; her joy was unwavering. She had her quirky habits, like licking walls and spinning in circles, and she would meticulously arrange her bed before, in a puzzling twist, peeing on it. It was these little things that made her so special to us.
Tragically, Luna faced multiple health challenges, which are all too common for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. On the morning of November 27, 2024, we rushed her to the vet, where she was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Despite our hopes and the medications we received, she continued to decline. In a heartbreaking turn, she collapsed and died in my arms on the way back to the vet.
Though our time with Luna was brief, she filled our hearts with love and joy. We are heartbroken, but we hold onto the happiness she brought to our lives and are grateful for every moment we shared.
